Mac mini won’t boot headless

Took me some time to figure out what’s going on: mini gets stuck on boot without a monitor attached, and you don’t see it gets stuck. When you connect a screen to inspect what’s going on, it appears as if it (the screen) doesn’t want to wake from standby. Only after reboot the screen wakes, but then the machine also boots without problems as if nothing was wrong — it’s practically a Heisenbug 🙂

After some googling, one should connect a 75Ω resistor between VGA pins 1 and 6, or 2 and 7 on the DVI to VGA adapter. For me only pins 2 and 7 worked, and it seems 100Ω is also just fine.
